MONDAY'S MEETING

Mondays speaker will be Club President Paul Cassel VE3SY who will talk on The Internet as a Productivity Tool for Amateur Radio.

Paul was licensed in 1962 as VE3AVY which he changed to VE3SY in 1983. Paul became interested in computers in about 1979 after seeing a demo by Gunther Gruber VE3MAD of the Radio Shack TRS-80 Home Computer.

Paul has been active in KWARC activities since 1962 including early Civil Defense exercises, a two year stint as President in 1973-74 and 1974-75 and as bulletin Editor for a number of years in the late 70's early 80's.

On the work side of his life Paul left High School after Grade 11 and became of Professional Photographer working in the Commercial, Portrait and Wedding side of the photographic business. In 1966 he left the still photo business and joined CKCO-TV as a staff news cameraman. In 1972, paul left CKCO and joined a start-up 2way radio business as a sales representative for Two-Way Communications. Over the next 20 years he purchased an equity position in the company.

When the company sold its Datamax Paging division to Bell Mobility Paging in 1990, Paul became its Regional Manager for Southwestern Ontario and later Director of Business Planning at its corporate HQ in Toronto. Due to complications from advanced arthritis, Paul took early retirement in 1996 but continued on a consulting basis with Bell Mobility for the next year.

In 1997 Paul and three partners formed the YRLess Internet Corporation to develop advanced messaging software for the new 2 GHz PCS wireless phone business.

Paul is married to Marg VE3BLJ and they live in Petersburg with their three cats.
